Tarak Ben Ammar’s filmography: Profession: producer
The South "comes up" to the North
1991 // Mayrig et 588, rue Paradis BY Henri Verneuil
It is a film (two films) and television (a six-hour series) adaptation of Henri Verneuil’s autobiographical book.
The filming of Mayrig took just one week in Tunisia. "I wanted the entire film to be shot here. I intended to build the studios and make a real-life construction of Rue Paradis, which cost me FRF 2 billion in Paris. But I was told to dismantle the El Kantaoui studios and I didn’t have time to find another filming set, which cost me dear and represented a debt of FRF 9 million for Tunisia."
Two weeks of filming took place in Marseille. "Henri Verneuil brought me to love this city through his book, then his script, then his film." The film’s overall budget was FRF 130 million.
